Saving, Spending, and Giving

On Tuesday 7/22, Paul and I went to a membership meeting with the church (2.0 and 2.5). We took Adele since she is such an awesome kid to sit and do things without disrupting things. It lasted 2 hrs. and she did phenomenal! Adele was doing an activity book but also listened to Pastor Josh as you will soon read.

Pastor Josh was talking about the importance of giving. He explained how he and his wife Dara give Ana (now will be in 2nd grade) an allowance of $5. They have 3 envelopes: giving, spending, saving. Then he went on to testify that they had driven by a homeless guy with a sign and decided to buy him food.

After picking up Adele from school, I explained that her requirement was to help me carry things in from the van. I explained we will now be giving her an allowance.

She said, "I know, I know. I will get 3 envelopes. One for spending, one for saving, and one for giving to poor people." I couldn't help but smile since that is such a great idea but I said how about if we give it to God instead.

The actually really funny story is the P. Josh and Dara have Ana give $2 out of $5 which he explained is actually 20% instead of 10% but she doesn't know that yet. Hee Hee! I love it and we are now going to do that in our family. Thanks for the idea!

Adele, please forgive me if you read this later. You were tithing and giving an offering! :-)

You will be amazed at the various "God Gift" opportunities that pop up not associated with Sunday tithing envelopes.
Understand that this is tithing also (Alyssa's Baptist youth group retreat to Estes Park in July - needs at Adele's school - the family whose home was destroyed by fire - the "homeless guy" - the baby supplies for the new mother). Love you all!
